How We Evaluate Everything

Every product is scored across nine core dimensions — a structured, transparent framework designed to identify the best available options.

Specific Criteria

What We Look At Within Each Dimension

Within the nine dimensions, specific, notable criteria provide granular insight into every product evaluated.

1

Value for money

2

Whether the product is part of a refillable or closed loop system

3

Accuracy of marketing claims

4

Ingredient transparency & disclosures of any toxins or allergens

5

Whether the directions are clear and easy to understand

6

Whether the product's chemistry is effective for its intended use

Two Distinct Standards

What About "Overflow-Integrated"?

You may see the term Overflow-Integrated referenced alongside Overflow-Approved. These are not the same thing.

Overflow-Approved

A product earns this designation by scoring 90–100% across Overflow's evaluation system. It represents the best options currently available on the market.

This is a high bar — and it allows people to make better choices today, even within the constraints of the current global supply system.

Overflow-Integrated

Overflow-Integrated is a higher, future-oriented standard. It applies to companies, not products.

It represents a company that has:

  • Fully aligned its materials, operations, labor, logistics, finances, and culture
  • Integrated regenerative principles into every layer of decision-making
  • Adopted a long-term commitment to coherence, not just compliance
  • Entered ongoing relationship, education, and accountability within the Overflow ecosystem

Overflow-Integrated requires a full 100% score, plus deep cultural and operational integration that cannot be measured by product metrics alone. At present, very few — if any — companies meet this standard.

Our Position

Where Overflow Stands

Overflow is not aspiring toward this standard — we are defining it and living by it.

From the beginning, Overflow's internal decisions, governance, and culture are aligned with the Overflow-Integrated framework.

In early phases, some infrastructure elements (such as prefabricated units or legacy materials) may still contain small amounts of plastic or non-ideal components where no viable alternatives yet exist. These are temporary constraints, not values compromises.

As the Regenerative Commerce Branch expands, Overflow is actively:

  • Developing and sourcing non-plastic alternatives
  • Replacing legacy materials over time
  • Using its own properties and products as living laboratories for the future standard

Overflow-Integrated is not a static badge — it is a living practice.

We hold ourselves to the same standard we invite others to grow toward.
